Come Join Us

We are a community of enthusiasts dedicated to fostering the appreciation, study, and performance of the viola da gamba.  We sponsor workshops, play-ins, and informal gatherings to explore the vast wealth of viol music resources.  We invite individuals of all ages to join us, including beginners, experienced players, professional musicians, and teachers.  We especially encourage people who have never played the viol to come and get acquainted with this beautiful instrument.

Our workshops and playing meetings provide the opportunity to gather with viol players from across the region.  Participants attend for the joy of playing together and to expand their technical understanding of the viol, under the guidance of internationally-recognized performers and scholars.

We invite you to become a member of our chapter and join our vibrant community in musical camaraderie.  Annual dues are $25.  Dues for students and those of limited means are $10.

Membership in the Viola da Gamba Society of America is not required for joining our chapter.   We do encourage members to join the national society and benefit from its programs and resources.

If you are interested in getting together informally to play viols, send a note to violsgwb@gmail.com.  Indicate your skill level and instrument size (treble, tenor, bass) and we will put you in touch with other local players.
